Stavanger - Egersund - Stavanger.
Forget grandiose waterfalls and fjords - be entertained by Trollpikken, a phallus shaped rock formation that have become the symbol of potency in Norwegian nature.
In June 2017, an act of vandalism at Trollpikken resulted the monument being cut off from the mountain wall. The locals in Egersund worked hard to get it back in place, with lift, steel and epoxy.
The landscape that surrounds Trollpikken is similar to a scene from a Tolkien book, with rolling hills, small mountains, rocks and changing cloud cover. The Vikings also travelled on these edges between heather and granite, where the ice carved out Trollpikken 10 000 years ago.
Out on the edge, you will have a view towards Egersund.
The trip goes by train from Stavanger to Egersund. Then there is a 10 minute walk to Egersund town center.
From the the center of Egersund there is a marked trail to Trollpikken. The route takes you to Vannbassengan (the Water Basins) and further towards Veshovda and Mjølhusåsen (the Experience Dalane path) before you reach Trollpikken.
The trip from Egersund town center takes approx. 5 hours up to Trollpikken and back. Difficulty level blue (medium).

About our trips
This is a “Travel like the locals” tour. The tours use public transport, i.e. regular buses, ferries and boats, but we have done the planning for you so that you can concentrate on enjoying your trip. You travel on your own - there is no guide or tour leader. On most of our tours you must change several times between different buses/ferries/boats, and it is up to you to make sure you catch your connections – truly travelling like a local! (The tours are set up so that the buses, ferries and boats connect.)
Trips are not available for booking on public holidays and during holiday periods such as Easter and Christmas due to deviations in the timetables. The timetable shown is valid for the periods when the trip is bookable.
