Stavanger - Rennesøy - Stavanger.
The tour starts with a bus from Stavanger and goes through two underwater tunnels before arriving to the island of Rennesøy. Here, green pastures alternate with wet lands, heather meadows and deciduous forests.
On this tour you have the opportunity to hike up to Mount Rennesøyhodnet – the highest peak on the island. If you want to do so, you can get off the bus at Hegglandslia in Østhusvik. There is a large map for the area at the starting point.
Mount Rennesøyhodnet is located in the middle of the Ryfylke basin and offers a fantastic view on all sides: from Haugaland and Karmøy in the north, and far towards Ryfylke and Jæren on the south. You have panoramic view over farmlands on the island from the 234 metre high peak, as well as the heather moors on the north side.
The tour is relatively easy with a newly established hiking trail.
There may be damp parts on the trip, so make sure you have good footwear. The trip is approximately 2.5 km each way and walking time is approximately 1 hour, each way.
Departure from: Stavanger bus stop 24 (Olav 5 Gate).
About our trips
This is a “Travel like the locals” tour. The tours use public transport, i.e. regular buses, ferries and boats, but we have done the planning for you so that you can concentrate on enjoying your trip. You travel on your own - there is no guide or tour leader. On most of our tours you must change several times between different buses/ferries/boats, and it is up to you to make sure you catch your connections – truly travelling like a local! (The tours are set up so that the buses, ferries and boats connect.)
Trips are not available for booking on public holidays and during holiday periods such as Easter and Christmas due to deviations in the timetables. The timetable shown is valid for the periods when the trip is bookable.
