Jørpeland - Hjelmeland - Tau - Jørpeland.
On this trip you travel by bus along National Scenic Route Ryfylke from Jørpeland via Tau to Hjelmeland.
At Hjelmeland you have time to explore the village and its attractions. We recommend a hike to Hjelmen. This is an easy hike that takes about 1 hour, and from the top you will have a magnificent view over Hjelmeland the the Ryfylke fjords. Bring a packed lunch and enjoy it at the top!
If you would like to see some more of Hjelmeland we recommend the walking route "Skulp-turen" (the sculpture tour). It starts at Sande, and among the things you will see is the world’s largest “Jærstol” - a type of chair typical of the area, a World War II memorial and several sculptures, before you end the trip on top of the Hjelmen mountain.
On a fine summer day it’s great to go swimming at the beach at Sande. You can relax and let the children play on the beach or climb the huge “Jærstol”.
Hjelmeland has a spa hotel. At Spa-Hotell Velvære you can enjoy a massage or a visit in the baths. At the hotel you can also enjoy a nice lunch or dinner.
From Hjelmeland you go back to Tau with express boat and from Tau to Jørpeland by bus.
Departure from: Jørpeland church
About our trips
This is a “Travel like the locals” tour. The tours use public transport, i.e. regular buses, ferries and boats, but we have done the planning for you so that you can concentrate on enjoying your trip. You travel on your own - there is no guide or tour leader. On most of our tours you must change several times between different buses/ferries/boats, and it is up to you to make sure you catch your connections – truly travelling like a local! (The tours are set up so that the buses, ferries and boats connect.)
Trips are not available for booking on public holidays and during holiday periods such as Easter and Christmas due to deviations in the timetables. The timetable shown is valid for the periods when the trip is bookable.
